A Legacy of Faith, Education and Social Transformation
History of Andhra Jesuit Province
The Andhra Jesuit Province, rooted in the Ignatian tradition of service, intellectual rigour, and justice, has impacted Andhra Pradesh and Telangana through its education, social service, social action, livelihood, healthcare, tribal and Dalit welfare, ecology and sustainability, pastoral care, and spiritual dialogue.
For decades, the Jesuits have dedicated themselves to uplifting marginalised communities, particularly focusing on tribal populations, economically disadvantaged youth, and rural families. One of the core strengths of the Andhra Jesuit Province lies in its education system, which extends across schools, colleges, vocational training institutes, and hostels.

These institutions are not just centres of learning but hubs of character formation, where young minds are shaped into leaders, critical thinkers, and socially responsible citizens. Our institutions have built a reputation for academic rigour while fostering values of compassion, integrity, and social justice.

Beyond traditional education, the province has been a pioneer in youth empowerment, focusing on leadership development, skill training, and personal transformation, targeting young individuals who often lack access to resources and guidance.
The Jesuits firmly believe that empowered youth are key agents of change in building a more just and equitable society. Their work also spans across tribal welfare, women's empowerment, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. We provide education, vocational training, and healthcare support to indigenous communities, helping them achieve self-reliance.
Jesuit parishes across the province serve as spiritual and social hubs, offering not only religious guidance but also essential services such as family counselling, rural development programmes, and disaster relief efforts. These initiatives reflect the Jesuit commitment to holistic transformation, where faith and service go hand in hand.

At its core, the Andhra Jesuit Province remains dedicated to nurturing individuals who are “men and women for others”—a philosophy that encourages selflessness, ethical leadership, and a commitment to social justice.
