How the Jesuit Mission Began in Pulivendula
The Jesuit mission in Pulivendula emerged from a clear recognition of the region’s most pressing need: education that leads to employability and dignity.
To respond, the Jesuits established Loyola Degree, PG, and Polytechnic institutions in Pulivendula, with the explicit aim of making professional and technical education accessible to students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds.
The mission was shaped not to create elite spaces, but to open doors for first-generation learners who would otherwise be excluded from higher education.
What we have done
From the outset, the mission focused on skill-oriented and professional education.
By offering degree, postgraduate, and technical programmes, the institutions enabled students to gain practical skills, confidence, and direction — equipping them to enter the workforce with dignity.
Education here was always accompanied by mentoring, discipline, and values-based formation.
What is happening today
Today, Pulivendula continues to serve as a lifeline for hundreds of young people, most of whom are first-generation college students.
